Field Trip
Polar Express Train Ride
We always try to book a trip on the local Polar Express Train. Wear your PJs, bring hot cocoa, sing Christmas Carols and enjoy a ride on the Polar Express!
Pretend Play
Trains!

Set up trains, trains, trains. Lego Trains. Wooden Trains. Electric Trains. Take turns being the conductor. Set up a little wooden town to be Christmas Town.

Polar Express Party
We have hosted a Polar Express Party a couple years now and it never gets old! We ask our friends to wear their pjs to our house; Enjoy hot cocoa; Make Christmas Crafts; Sing songs; Turn empty cardboard boxes into boxcars where the children can each sit in their own boxcar to watch the movie while sipping on hot cocoa. Toward the end on the movie one year, my then-6-year-old dressed up like Santa and handed out bells to all her friends.

These are some of the activities we shared together:

  • Peppermint paint painting
  • Cookie decorating
  • Hot cocoa making
  • Train building
  • Cardboard box train boxcars
  • Foam gingerbread house making
  • Bell and pipe cleaner sculpture-building
  • Bell bracelet / necklace
