Deep Breaths – Love Notes

Last night Lincoln woke up in the middle of the darkness and needed a snuggle. He came close, rested his head on my chest, reached around and hugged me tightly. I love you, I said. I love you too, Ma-Ma… he squeezed me closer as he said it. And then he told me my heart ❤️ was beating really fast. I got in touch with my breath and slowed its pace. Focusing on drawing a big open inhale, taking up as much space as possible. And then slowly releasing into an exhale. I did this a few times. And asked him how my heart sounded now. He said it was still beating (but not as fast as it had been). ❤️ that’s the power of our breathing. When life is overwhelmed, or if you are panicked, or anxious, tune in to your breath. When you practice it in everyday moments it becomes easier to tap into and use as a tool during more intense moments. Pause. Try it now. Practice breathing. Become in tune, in touch, aware of your breath. Inhale through your nose. All the way. Draw in your breath, make your tummy expand. Take up alllllll the space. And then, exhale through your mouth. DEEP BREATHS ARE LIKE LITTLE LOVE NOTES TO YOUR BODY. ❤️ #selfcare #mindfulness #breathe #mindfulmama #notice #awareness #mindfulkids #cyclebreaker #changemaker #magic #magicmaker #tools #selfregulation #selfregulationskills #riseup #intentionalliving #theplayfullway #mindfulparenting #shifttheparadigm #selfdirectededucation #selfdirectedlearning #bravingthewilderness #vulnerability #parenting #parentingtips #bigfeelings #mindfulness #growing #stretching #takeupspace
