Day 5
Music

Invitation to Make Jingle Bells: Simply string bells onto pipe cleaners, twist to close. You can turn them into bracelets, stick bells, or make more elaborate bell sculptures. What you need:
  • Bells of different sizes
  • Pipe Cleaners

I LOVE these Magnetic Sensory Bottles from one of my favorite blogs
No Time for Flashcards
They would make the perfect addition to our Christmas Musical Instrument Collection!
These are the simple Pipe Cleaner Bells we made via Make and Takes.

This is another fun streamer craft I think could be really cute in Christmas Colors via Kids Craft Room
We jingle-jangled our bells while singing along to the musical books!

Then we had a musical-bell dance-party!

 Musical Feature Film

This was one of my favorites as a child – we had it on VHS! I purchased the DVD version and we love singing along to the cartoons. The words for the songs are at the bottom of the screen so it’s fun for young readers and helps adults keep up with the song, too!
We usually watch this ON Christmas too, after we’ve had dinner and are all sitting around the living room together.

Field Trip

One of our FAVORITE things to do this time of year is to go on Christmas Light Hunts. Whether we walk with a cup of hot cocoa to keep warm, in the neighborhood, searching for our favorite lights or we travel by car, counting the number of houses that are lit up (or the number of houses that have snowmen out front!) – we almost always bring along a cup of hot cocoa, turn on the radio, or bring music sheets along with us so we can sing, carol, hum, and dance along to the music. It has been one of my favorite family traditions since my littles were too young to sing the WORDS but they definitely participated with ahhhs, oohs, and coos 🙂
