We’re Going on a Bug Hunt We’re Looking For Some Bugs! Sensory Bin Style… As part of our Spring Sensory Bin, I hid insects throughout the bin for Buga to find. She can further investigate these bugs with her magnifying glass… …and then classify or categorize them using Bug Cards I bought last year at […]

Bug Hunt – Sensory Bin Style

This is such a simple task….especially for a 3 year old! But I love the idea of hearing her count the hearts as the plunk into the tub. I also like watching her as she unscrews the lid to dump them all out and start over again. This would be a great fine motor skill […]

Heart Bank

Part II. I finished the Candy Sorting Activity Center for Buga and she has been enjoying it VERY much. As much as I hate to admit it, if you want her to learn something….turn into into something sweet – literally! She doesn’t get candy, chocolate, cake, cookies very often so she is fascinated with them. […]

Good Enough to Eat

Another Simple Project for Toddlers. We got a little felt tree cutout from the craft store. Buga used her fine motor skills to squeeze the glue from the bottle and place rainbow decorations on it : sequins, gem stones, pipe cleaners, and ribbon. She enjoyed decorating the tree – next time I will keep some […]

Simple Christmas Tree

This is another one of those things I had looked at but never bought…and then I was in the right place at the right time and got this set for $5.00!! I didn’t even know they carried Bilibo…Anyway, it’s one of those great open-ended play things. The only limit to game play is that of […]

Mini Bilibo and Pixel

I know I have posted about Pom Poms before but we still use ours for this project so I thought I would post some new pictures and mention it again. It’s a great way to help build fine motor skills and color coding and pattern making. All you need are some Pom Poms, a tray, […]

Pom Poms

I a similar idea on one of my favorite blogs : Little Hands Big Work . I found this big shaker at the dollar store and used pipe cleaners and flower buttons to coordinate. It turned out to be a great “arrangement” – using fine motor skills to both thread the flowers onto their stems…and […]

Flower Shaker – Fine Motor Skill Activity

I found these at the craft store on Clearance for under $2.00. In grade school I remember having to ever so gingerly scratch the surface without getting any oil from my hands onto the black “paper” and make each stroke count because we weren’t allowed to get another piece, so I wasn’t sure if Buga […]

Scratch Art

I recently “hid” number puzzle pieces in Buga’s Rice Bin. She had to excavate to find the numbers and then fit them into the puzzle. I found this great little puzzle from the dollar store! She loves her sensory bin. It’s a great way to sneak another layer of learning into play!

Rice Bin with Numbers

Buga found some Lego Duplo blocks in her Easter basket and eggs this year. I forgot how much fun it was to build with Legos! We sat and listened to some classical music while we constructed this little house. Such simple fun. Great for fine motor skills, imagination building, understanding of mathematical, spatial, and physics […]
