Layla has been cooped up in the house for the past two weeks because she has been sick. Yuck! Recently I had the feeling she just needed something new to do. Something novel. Something we don’t do very often. It was all ready night time but I just knew it had to be done. I dragged out the paints – red and green for Christmas. I unrolled the easel paper on the floor and taped them down. We all put on “painting clothes” – in Layla’s case: a diaper. And she Experimented with paint. She had SO much fun. A couple times she wanted to get “cleaned off” but then she went right back to painting again. She had a good scrub in the tub that night….
but when she woke the next morning “I paint. I paint?” said she.
So I knew it was a success.
